The skin-compatible, long-chain natural peptides in the foam combine with the peptides on the skin's surface to form a protective layer: the peptide mantle. This does exactly what the acid mantle cannot: repel the surfactants. The peptide mantle protects against surfactants penetrating deep into the skin's pores. This is new because it allows the inner barrier lipids that protect your skin from drying out to remain in the skin and continue to retain water in the uppermost layer, preventing it from evaporating.
